Fox Point Files is another of Emma Hart's romance-meets-mystery worlds, but it has a different flavor from Holly Woods. Where Holly Woods is warm, loud, and Texas-chaotic, Fox Point starts with a softer seaside mood, old history, and the ache of coming back to a place that still holds too much of your past.

Then somebody dies, of course.

The series opens with Dead and Breakfast, which introduces Lottie O'Neil and Fox Point, her grandfather's coastal hometown. Lottie returns after his death and learns that she has inherited the family's run-down bed-and-breakfast, a place tied to childhood summers, family memories, and her first love, Noah George. Noah is now a detective inspector, which becomes a problem quickly when a dead body turns up and Lottie is suddenly close enough to the case to look suspicious.

That setup tells you what kind of series this is. There is a clear mystery plot, but the emotional engine is second chance romance. Lottie and Noah have history stretching back to childhood, and the story uses the murder case to force them into the same orbit again. Hart is good at this kind of tension because the investigation gives the relationship a shape. They cannot avoid each other. They also cannot simply pick up where they left off.

The setting helps a lot. A seaside town and an inherited bed-and-breakfast bring in nostalgia, local gossip, family legacy, and the practical problem of figuring out what to do with a place that means too much to abandon and maybe too much to keep. That gives the series a cozier frame than a straight procedural, even though the stakes are real.

Tone-wise, Fox Point feels like a romantic mystery first and a pure cozy second. There is humor, but it sits beside grief, memory, and the discomfort of being pulled back into unfinished parts of your own life. Lottie is not just solving a case. She is dealing with home, inheritance, and the one person she never fully got over.

If you want a series with a murder, a seaside town, and a love story that has years of history packed into it before the first clue even lands, Fox Point Files is a promising start. It is a good fit for readers who like their mysteries grounded in place and their romance sharpened by the fact that these two people already mean far too much to each other.
