Forbidden Fairy Tales Books in Order

Despite the title, Forbidden Fairy Tales is not a fantasy series and it is not really about retelling old tales. It is RS Elliot's most direct run at taboo contemporary romance, built around couples who know from the start that getting together is a bad idea. That sense of "do not cross this line" is what links the books.

Forbidden Daddy raises the emotional cost by making the hero the heroine's best friend's father. Forbidden Cowboy folds in childhood history, a brother's best friend, and a hidden pregnancy. Forbidden Crush and Forbidden Grump continue the pattern, taking the ache of long-held attraction and turning it into a full romance once circumstances push the characters too close together to hide from it.

What makes this series different from Elliot's billionaire books is the source of the tension. In Billionaire's Obsession, the trouble often comes from bosses, power, and wealth. Here, the bigger issue is access. These characters are in each other's orbit in ways that make distance hard and desire inconvenient. A classroom, a hospital, a family friendship, a shared house, a child who needs care, a client who cannot just be avoided, each setup is designed to keep the couple near each other while making the consequences feel very real.

That gives the series a more openly risky tone. The books are still contemporary romance standalones with heat and happily-ever-afters, but they lean harder into moral hesitation, social boundaries, and the question of what people are willing to jeopardize for one relationship. Jobs, degrees, reputations, friendships, and family trust all have weight here. Even when a premise sounds playful, the characters usually have something solid to lose.

There is variety inside that pattern. Some books feel more workplace-driven. Some lean more emotional. Some are about old crushes finally resurfacing, while others start with instant attraction and then add the taboo afterward. The series title gives everything a slightly heightened sheen, but the stories themselves stay grounded in modern life and familiar romance pleasures.

If you read romance for the moment when two people know they should stop and absolutely do not stop, Forbidden Fairy Tales is very much operating in your lane. It is Elliot's clearest expression of the forbidden-love side of her catalog, quick, steamy, and built around the thrill of wanting exactly the wrong person.
