Series background & context
Fog's Edge is a contemporary romance series set in a fictional town in the Tennessee mountains. The place is small, isolated, and shaped by a long local history. Fog can roll in thick enough to make the roads feel cut off from the rest of the world, but the bigger complications usually come from family ties, old feuds, and everyone knowing everyone else's business.
The series begins with Fog's Edge, when Shelby Barrett returns twenty-five years after her mother took her away. Her grandfather's will requires her to take a leadership role in town, even though some residents do not welcome an outsider, especially one with family connections to local disagreements. Stone Childers, the town's chief of police, has come home after military service and finds his settled life changing fast when Shelby arrives.
The town itself is part of the romance.
Each book brings another couple into focus while keeping Fog's Edge and its residents close by. Yours Again follows Mia and Danny Waters, a separated married couple forced back into each other's orbit by an urgent crisis. Their story is about old hurt, responsibility, and whether a relationship that broke can be rebuilt. In How Long I've Loved You, Oakley Marshall and River Childers have years of unspoken feelings and self-doubt to work through after danger puts them together.
As I Am turns to Spring Childers and Gus Bailey, childhood friends whose deep connection has been worn down by outside opinions about what their relationship should look like. The emotional question is simple but difficult: can they stop letting other people define their future? The books favor second chances, friends-to-lovers stories, longtime crushes, and people deciding that the safe path is not always the honest one.
Fog's Edge has a community storyline running beneath the individual romances. Its younger residents want to protect the town's future while also changing what is not working. That gives the series a shared sense of purpose beyond each couple's relationship. Local leadership, business plans, rival families, and the town's past all create pressure around the love stories.
These are warm, relationship-focused books, though the characters do face real problems. The mountain setting, close-knit cast, and return appearances from earlier couples make publication order especially rewarding. Start with Fog's Edge for Shelby and Stone's arrival at the center of town, then continue with Yours Again, How Long I've Loved You, and As I Am to follow the community as it grows.
