EMP Post Apocalyptic Survival Books in Order

This is James Hunt in straight-ahead EMP survival mode. The premise is familiar in the best way: the grid fails, systems collapse, and the people who prepared a little are still nowhere near prepared enough. What makes these books stick is the emphasis on one family and one community trying to hold together while the threat keeps widening.

The series follows Ben Riker, a prepper and family man whose plans suddenly stop feeling theoretical. Shelter In Place starts with the initial shock and the scramble to get loved ones safe. Days of Terror and Days of Survival widen the fallout as chaos spreads and the outside danger becomes more organized. By the time the later books arrive, the story has shifted from simple endurance to defense, retaliation, and figuring out who caused the disaster in the first place.

Ben is useful because he is prepared, but Hunt does not turn that into easy competence. Planning helps. It does not solve everything.

A lot of the tension comes from group dynamics, who belongs inside the perimeter, who gets a say, how much risk a family can afford, and what happens when somebody else's bad choices arrive at your door armed and hungry. The setting in and around the North Carolina mountains adds to that feeling. Geography matters. Isolation can save you, until it turns into a trap.

If you want an EMP series that begins with immediate survival and gradually grows into a larger fight, this one fits well. The books are quick, direct, and interested in the practical side of collapse without losing the emotional point of it, people trying to protect family while the whole country comes apart.
