EJ Koh Books in Order

These poems explore love through departures from partners, families, countries, and communities. Drawing on Korean ideas of enduring connection, Koh examines bonds between parents and children alongside the personal wounds left by war and public tragedy.

Eun Ji Koh revisits the years after her parents returned to South Korea, leaving her and her brother in California. Translating her mother's letters leads her through family history, inherited trauma, and questions about distance, forgiveness, and language.

After a disappearance during South Korea’s martial law, Insuk and Sungho move to California with their son and his grandmother. Across four generations and two continents, grief, secrets, and an illicit affair reshape the family’s understanding of freedom.
