Dracula's Heir Books in Order

The heart of Dracula's Heir is My Secret Vampire, a young adult paranormal romance that takes old Dracula lore and gives it a lighter, more contemporary voice. The main character, Quentin Etheridge, has spent nineteen years thinking he is an ordinary Californian boy. Then an accident, a bite, and a brutal family revelation tell him otherwise. He is part of Dracula's bloodline, and he is shipped off to Transylvania to learn what that actually means.

He is not thrilled about it.

That grumpy, funny resistance is a big part of the book's charm. Quentin is not a brooding gothic prince who embraces the castle lifestyle on page one. He is hungry, annoyed, out of his depth, and very aware that being trapped in Castle Dracula with no easy escape is a terrible summer plan. The other half of the story comes from Abigail, a curious girl spending time in rural Romania with her grandmother. Her explorations bring her straight into Quentin's orbit, where danger and attraction arrive almost together.

The setting matters here more than scenery usually does. The old castle, hidden passages, village life, family servants, and vampire rules create a world that feels half spooky and half adventurous. Katmore leans into the fun of the premise without draining it of stakes. Quentin is expected to grow up fast, learn the rules of his new existence, and live up to a family legacy that would intimidate just about anyone. Abigail, meanwhile, has to work out whether the strange things around her are imagination, folklore, or something very real.

So yes, there is gothic atmosphere, but the series reads much more like a romantic supernatural adventure than straight horror.

If you want pages full of dread and blood, this is probably not that lane. If you want a sharp, modern vampire story with a fish-out-of-water hero, a vivid Romanian backdrop, and a romance built on curiosity as much as chemistry, it makes a lot of sense. The title promises legacy, and that is really what holds the series together. Under the flirting and castle sneaking, Quentin is being asked what kind of heir he will be, and whether he even wants the inheritance in the first place.
