Don't Get Mad is a prep school thriller series built around four girls who are tired of watching cruelty pass as normal. The fun of the book comes from how each girl brings different baggage and blind spots to the mystery, while the tension comes from the fact that Bishop DuMaine is full of secrets, grudges, and people with plenty to lose.

Get Dirty picks up in the aftermath, when DGM is splintered and the pressure is worse. Margot is in a coma, Bree is under house arrest, and Kitty and Olivia are left trying to figure out who has been tearing through their lives. The second book leans harder into the emotional fallout, because the danger is no longer abstract. Families crack, trust frays, and the killer keeps finding new ways to get close.

This is not a cozy school mystery. The tone is sharp, tense, and occasionally darkly funny, more interested in consequences than wish fulfillment. McNeil keeps the chapters moving fast, shifts perspective between the girls, and makes the school's social web feel claustrophobic in the best way. Even when the books are dealing with murder, they stay grounded in the smaller humiliations and betrayals that made DGM exist in the first place.

The series also made the jump to the screen, with Get Even adapted for television and later followed by Rebel Cheer Squad, which drew on the same world and spirit. But the books themselves are what really sell the idea: four very different girls learning that revenge is easy compared with living through the aftermath.
