Series background & context

Do-Over Date takes Susan Hatler's love of fresh starts and puts it front and center. This is a sweet contemporary romance series about women rebuilding, rethinking, and trying again after life has not gone the way they expected. The books are connected by friendship, second chances, and the sense that a romantic reset can happen at any age.

One of the key figures in the background is Courtney Carmichael, a divorced former attorney who now runs a coffee cart and hands out encouragement as easily as lattes. She helps set the tone for the whole series. These are stories about people who have been bruised a little by work, love, or their own expectations, and who are learning how to choose joy anyway.

The setting has city energy, but the emotional feel is warm and personal.

Across the books, readers meet heroines who are overworked, recently heartbroken, starting new businesses, or trying to prove themselves in careers that do not leave much room for vulnerability. Then the romances arrive through blind dates, neighbors, rescue situations, fake relationships, chance meetings, and one or two total disasters that turn out better than they first look. Hatler likes contrast, polished and messy, careful and impulsive, practical and romantic, and that gives the series a lot of its spark.

What makes these stories feel cohesive is the support system around them. Friends show up. Advice gets traded. People nudge each other toward risks they would never take alone. Even when each book focuses on a new couple, the larger world feels steady and welcoming, which is exactly what you want in a series built on do-overs.

The tone stays light, but the books do not ignore real fears. Some heroines are dealing with betrayal. Some are scared to repeat old mistakes. Some have built such careful lives that love feels less like a dream and more like an interruption. That is where Hatler is at her best, showing how romance can shake loose the life a character has settled for.

If you like interconnected romances with charming setups, kind-hearted heroes, and heroines brave enough to start again, Do-Over Date delivers exactly that. It is a series about getting another shot, not just at love, but at becoming the person you hoped you would be.
