In a fresh round of divine misadventures, an overworked god of heroes keeps getting people killed, young deities hunt for part time jobs, and Fate sits down to play poker with Luck and Misfortune. The result is a wry look at what happens when immortals meddle a bit too much.
Divine Assistance

2017
This collection of comic stories peeks behind the curtain of Creation, following gods like Death, Bureaucracy, and Mischief as they try to manage souls, paperwork, holidays, and accidental apocalypses. Mortals rarely see the chaos, but they certainly feel the consequences.
Series background & context
Divine Assistance collects comic fantasy stories about a very busy pantheon. In this universe the Supreme Mother and Supreme Father separated Creation from the Void and brought a host of gods into being. Those gods are ancient and powerful, but they are also exasperatingly human in their habits and blind spots.
Rather than focusing on mortals who pray to distant deities, the series lets readers sit in the gods' own offices and family meetings. Death worries about practical problems such as how to find a suitable pony for his daughter when normal ponies have annoyingly short lifespans. Bureaucracy spends eternity trying to keep existence running smoothly while drowning fellow gods in paperwork they refuse to fill out properly.
The stories in Divine Assistance revolve around these kinds of divine headaches. Souls need to be collected on time. Cities occasionally need to be smitten, preferably in ways that show a little style. Mischief, Mayhem, and Rabble take holidays that inevitably leave craters in the mortal world. Every tale takes some familiar mythic element and twists it just enough to land a punchline.
Divine Interference widens the lens. The god of aspiring heroes offers help that tends to end with people being eaten. Death looks for someone creative enough to design a prison for the worst of the afterlife's inmates and ends up working with Torment. Young gods like Zephyra, patron of raccoons, and a younger incarnation of Death hunt for part time work and a chance to prove themselves. Fate sits down at a poker table opposite Luck, Misfortune, and Mischief with predictable, entertaining results.
Across both books, Estrella builds a consistent, playful theology. The gods care about Creation, but they squabble, cut corners, and occasionally treat cosmic problems like office politics. Their decisions spill down into mortal lives, yet the focus stays on character rather than on grand prophecy. You can dip into a single story or read straight through and enjoy the way running jokes and relationships accumulate over time.
