Dilemma Books in Order

Dilemma is one of T.L. Smith's earlier series, and you can feel the foundations of her later work taking shape here. The setup is more emotional contemporary romance than sleek criminal dark romance, but the same interest in hurt, longing, and messy choices is already on the page. These books are built around love that does not come easily and healing that takes longer than anyone wants.

The series centers on Sasha's world and the emotional fallout around her. Love in these books is not treated like a simple reward waiting at the end of the story. Instead, Smith leans into grief, loyalty, old promises, and the fear of trusting someone again after being torn apart. That gives the series a more openly emotional tone than some of her later antihero-driven books.

Adam's Heaven and Sasha's Demons both sit inside that emotional frame. Adam's Heaven expands the world and gives more space to Adam and Britney, adding depth to one of the relationships tied to the larger series. Sasha's Demons returns to Sasha after loss and asks what moving forward could even look like when loving once already hurt this much. Brax enters that story as someone willing to fight for her, but the real tension comes from Sasha's grief and her fear that another love could destroy what little of her is still standing.

What makes Dilemma interesting is that the conflict is often internal as much as external. The pressure does not only come from villains or violent worlds. It comes from memory, from the guilt of wanting to move on, and from the question of whether choosing love again is brave or reckless. Smith handles that well because she does not rush the pain out of the way just to get to the romance.

The atmosphere is angsty and intimate rather than glamorous. The books care about emotional damage in a direct, personal way. People are broken by what they have lost, and the stories ask whether love can help them rebuild without pretending that rebuilding is quick. That makes the series especially appealing to readers who like romances with grief, second chances, and characters who have to fight their own feelings before they can fight for each other.

If you know Smith mainly for later dark romance, Dilemma is useful because it shows another side of her instincts. The edges are different, but the fascination with wounded people is the same. These books still care about intensity. They just get there through heartbreak and healing more than criminal power.

So while Dilemma may feel like an earlier phase, it still fits the larger T.L. Smith pattern. Love hurts, people make bad choices, and happiness, if it comes, has to be earned.
