Series background & context

The Devil’s Night series is set in Thunder Bay, a wealthy coastal city built on secrets, old money and a ruined Catholic school called St. Killian’s. Every October, a group of boys known as the Horsemen used to roam the town in masks, playing pranks that were never as harmless as they looked. One Devil’s Night goes too far, three of them land in prison, and the fallout powers the rest of the series.

In Corrupt, college student Erika “Rika” Fane is still half obsessed and half terrified by Michael Crist, her ex boyfriend’s older brother and the leader of the Horsemen. When the men Michael once ran with are released from prison, they drag Rika into a nightmarish game of revenge that blurs the line between punishment, desire and long buried attraction.

Hideaway moves the story into the decaying luxury of The Pope, an abandoned hotel on the edge of the city. Kai Mori comes home from prison hungry for answers about a mysterious twelfth floor and the shadowy figure who haunted his childhood. Banks, a survivor who knows far more than she lets on, becomes both his guide and his opponent as secrets about the hotel, the Crist family and the past scrape to the surface.

In Kill Switch, Damon Torrance finally takes center stage. Winter Ashby, blind since a childhood accident tied to Damon, believes she is safe after helping send him to prison. His return as the new man in her household sparks a long, cruel campaign that is as psychological as it is physical, forcing both of them to unpack what actually happened between them and whether there is any future beyond vengeance.

The short novella Conclave traps Michael, Kai, Damon and Rika on a yacht while they confront threats circling their families and the unsettling disappearance of fellow Horseman Will Grayson. It serves as a pressure cooker and a bridge, clearing the board for the final act.

Nightfall follows Will at Blackchurch, an isolated estate where powerful families send their worst sons out of sight. Emory Scott, the girl whose choices helped send the Horsemen to prison, winds up locked inside the same compound. Their long, twisted history collides with harsh weather, closed gates and the kind of isolation where every feeling grows sharper.

The coda, Fire Night, is a winter holiday novella that returns to St. Killian’s for the longest night of the year, letting readers see the couples older, more settled and still drawn to rituals that walk the edge of danger. Together the books form a dark romance world heavy on power games, loyalty, obsession and hard won redemption, and they work best read in order from Corrupt through Fire Night.
