Series background & context

The Dellucci Mafia Duet is a tight two-book dark mafia story built around Marcello Dellucci and Harper. It starts with Sold, where Harper is pushed onto an auction stage and Marcello, the new don, decides he wants far more than a purchase. By the time the series moves into Owned, the question is no longer whether he is obsessed. It is whether anyone can outrun the kind of claim he thinks he has.

This is not a sprawling mafia epic with a dozen side romances.

It is much more focused than that. The duet stays locked on one dangerous couple and the way power, captivity, fear, and desire keep knotting together around them. Marcello is controlling, possessive, and used to taking what he wants. Harper has far less structural power, so a lot of the tension comes from how she resists, adapts, and tries to keep hold of herself inside a world built to swallow her whole.

The mafia setting matters, but mostly because it gives Marcello real reach. He is not just a jealous man. He is a man with money, status, and violence behind him, which makes every attempt at escape feel shaky. At the same time, the books are not all external action. They are just as interested in obsession, attachment, and the uncomfortable way danger and intimacy start to blur.

There is also a suspense thread running underneath the romance. Harper and Marcello are more connected than they first realize, and that buried history helps give the duet extra pull beyond the possessive setup.

If you like your dark romance intense, fast, and very couple-focused, this series fits well. Read Sold first and Owned second, because book two pays off the chase, the fallout, and the full force of Marcello's fixation.
