Delaney (Connie Mason) Books in Order

The Delaney books, often listed as the Delaney Brothers trilogy, are western family romances with a lot of bustle and heart. Pierce, Chad, and Ryan Delaney are the kind of brothers trouble finds early and often. They are rough around the edges, loyal when it counts, and rarely allowed a calm entrance into anybody else's life.

Dry Gulch, Montana, is not exactly peaceful.

To Love a Stranger starts the series with Pierce Delaney wounded and hiding in Zoey Fuller's root cellar while a vigilante mob looks for him. Zoey needs a husband to protect her ranch from a predatory banker, so the story quickly turns into a temporary marriage with very real consequences. To Tame a Renegade moves to Chad Delaney, a bounty hunter who has convinced himself he is better off alone until he rides into the life of Sarah Temple, a fiercely independent single mother. To Tempt a Rogue follows Ryan Delaney, who agrees to honor a dying man's wish and winds up searching for a long-lost daughter, only to find Kitty O'Shay disguised as a boy and mixed up with outlaws.

What makes the series work is the balance between family connection and separate romantic setups. The brothers belong to the same world, but Mason gives each book a different energy. Pierce gets the marriage bargain and ranch fight. Chad gets the tenderness and resistance of a man who thinks he cannot stay. Ryan gets disguises, robbers, and a heroine raised in danger who still wants a home.

The overall tone is classic western romance, broad skies, small towns, rough justice, and people who have to build security with their own hands. There is action, but there is also warmth. Children matter. Property matters. Reputation matters. So does the question of whether a drifting man can decide to stop drifting.

Readers should expect each book to stand on its own while still rewarding in-order reading. The pleasure is not only in the love stories, but in seeing how three brothers, each stubborn in his own way, slowly get pulled into lives that are bigger and steadier than the ones they planned for themselves.
