Deep Six Books in Order

Deep Six takes Julie Ann Walker's romantic suspense style out of the city and onto the water. The series follows a group of former Navy SEALs who leave active duty and form Deep Six Salvage, a treasure-hunting operation built around the search for the long-lost Spanish galleon Santa Cristina. That gives the books a great hook right away: these men are no longer fighting wars for the government, but trouble keeps finding them anyway.

The series is anchored on Wayfarer Island, the small Caribbean home base the team works from while diving wrecks, chasing leads, and trying to strike it rich. The tropical setting changes the feel of the suspense. Instead of dark alleys and city safe houses, you get open water, dive sites, storms, boats, hidden cargo, and islands that can feel beautiful and exposed at the same time. Walker uses that setting well. The ocean adds freedom, but it also makes every mistake feel bigger.

Leo Anderson, Bran Pallidino, Mason McCarthy, Wolf Roanhorse, Spiro Delgado, and Doc Simmons each get their turn at center stage, and each book pairs one of them with a heroine who brings her own skills, history, and trouble. Olivia Mortier, Maddy Powers, Alexis Merriweather, Christina Szarek, Mia Ennis, and Camilla D'Angelo are not interchangeable love interests. They change the stakes of the story and often push the men to deal with parts of themselves they would rather ignore.

What links the books is the ongoing treasure hunt and the reality that the Santa Cristina is not the only valuable thing on the water. Along the way the team runs into kidnappings, radioactive material, pirates, drug runners, legal roadblocks, old enemies, and hurricanes. That means the romance in each book develops inside a larger adventure plot, not off to the side of it. The danger is shared, and the series is better for that.

These books feel a little more sun-soaked and adventurous than Walker's Chicago stories, but they still have the same interest in loyalty, attraction, and capable people under pressure. If Hell or High Water sets the mission, later books like Devil and the Deep, Ride the Tide, and Deeper Than The Ocean keep widening the emotional and physical map.

If you like ex-military teams, tropical suspense, buried treasure, and romances that come with real forward momentum, Deep Six is an easy series to settle into. It helps to start with Hot as Hell or Hell or High Water, because the group dynamic and the ongoing hunt build from book to book. By the time the later threats roll in, Wayfarer Island feels less like a backdrop and more like part of the cast.
