by Jennifer L Armentrout

2018

Series background & context

The de Vincent trilogy trades paranormal battles for a different kind of darkness: old money, family secrets, and a Louisiana mansion that feels as haunted as its owners. Each book follows one of the reclusive de Vincent brothers—Lucian, Gabriel, and Devlin—as they fall for women who refuse to be intimidated by wealth, tragedy, or talk of curses.

In Moonlight Sins, nurse Julia Hughes accepts a job in the bayou caring for the de Vincents’ troubled sister, Maddie. Fresh off a painful divorce and desperate for a clean slate, she doesn’t expect her new employer to be the same man she had a scorching encounter with under false pretenses. Lucian, nicknamed “Lucifer”, is the youngest brother and the family’s designated rake. Julia’s work in the house draws her into a web of suspicious deaths, strange noises, and questions about whether the de Vincents are cursed—or simply dangerous.

Moonlight Seduction shifts focus to middle brother Gabriel and Nicolette “Nikki” Bresson, the housekeeper’s daughter who grew up under the same roof. Years ago, an ill‑timed crush and a bad night left both of them hurt. When Nikki returns to help her parents, she finds a more serious, haunted Gabriel and a series of accidents that suggest someone wants her gone. Their second‑chance romance unfolds alongside a twisted mystery that ties back to what really happened in the family’s past.

The trilogy closes with Moonlight Scandals and eldest brother Devlin, known as “the Devil” in local gossip. Rosie Herpin, a paranormal investigator with a pragmatic streak, has always been fascinated by the de Vincent legends. Being pulled into Devlin’s orbit after a funeral seems like fate, but her curiosity has teeth; the closer she gets to the truth, the more dangerous their connection becomes.

Throughout the series, the de Vincent house is almost a character in its own right. Flickering lights, hidden rooms, and unexplained sounds feed the gothic atmosphere. Rumors about a family curse mirror very human histories of abuse, neglect, and grief. Each romance allows a different brother to confront that legacy and choose what kind of man he wants to be.

Readers who like contemporary romance with suspense, a strong sense of place, and a slightly eerie edge will find a lot to enjoy here. The books can be read on their own, but taken together they form one long, tangled story about love, loyalty, and the price of keeping secrets in a family that has far too many of them.
