Author bio
Darlene Tallman was born on February 28 in Buffalo, New York, and grew up surrounded by family, books, and plenty of stories. As a kid, she was the one tucked in a corner with a novel, already dreaming about writing her own someday. That love of story never really went away; it just had to wait its turn while life happened first.
As a teenager she moved from upstate New York to Georgia, trading lake-effect snow for humid summers and small-town life. After high school she trained as a cosmetologist, eventually earning a master cosmetologist’s license. For years she worked on her feet in salons, raised four kids, and did all the regular-life things long before anyone called her an author.
The turning point came in 2015, when she woke up with the prologue to a story playing in her head. She opened a laptop, started typing, and kept going. With a gentle push from online friends, that draft became Bountiful Harvest, a faith-tinged small-town romance about a Christian motorcycle club and a community market in rural Kentucky. She released it in 2016, on the anniversary of her mother’s death, and quietly crossed “publish a book” off a lifelong wish list.
From there, the stories picked up speed. Tallman found her stride in contemporary and romantic suspense, especially motorcycle-club worlds where loyalty, found family, and second chances matter as much as the heat on the page. With co-author Liberty Parker, she launched the Rebel Guardians MC series set in Corinth, Texas, starting with Braxton and rolling through club brothers like Hatchet, Chief, Law, and Capone as they rebuild a dying town and protect the people who wander into their orbit.
She didn’t stay in one lane for long. The Poseidon’s Warriors books introduced a new club along the coast, beginning with Poseidon’s Lady and continuing through stories like Trident’s Queen, Loki’s Angel, Kaya’s King, Chelsea’s Knight, Orion’s Universe, and Glacier’s Thaw. These novels lean into themes Tallman returns to again and again: broken pasts, stubborn hope, and men who don’t quite believe they deserve love until the right woman proves them wrong.
At the same time, she was quietly building softer worlds. Her small-town romances—like What I Like About Sunday and Starting Over With You, later collected in Whispers of Love—take place in a fictional community called Possum Run, where single parents, military vets, and people running from bad memories gradually piece together new lives. The scale is smaller, but the emotional stakes are just as high: characters wrestle with grief, betrayal, and self-doubt before they ever get to the happily-ever-after.
Tallman is just as comfortable writing for younger readers. With fellow author Cherry Shephard and Shephard’s son Alex, she co-created The Mischief Kitties, a children’s series about curious neighborhood cats who stumble into glitter explosions, “bampires,” and spooky-fun adventures. Later, she teamed up with Cheryl Hullett for The Camelot Kitties and the BCP, another set of playful feline capers. Those projects let her share the joy of storytelling with kids while still sneaking in gentle lessons about friendship, kindness, and bravery.
Collaboration has become a through-line in her career. In addition to her long-running partnership with Liberty Parker, Tallman works closely with Erin Osborne on the Tattered and Torn MC world, where letter-style novellas like Letters from Home/War and Band of Letters spin off into full-length biker romances such as Her Keeper, Her One, Her Absolution, and Her Saviors. With Nikki Landis, she co-writes the Shifted Misfits MC, a shifter club in Yukon Bluff where “paws, claws, and jaws” meet fated mates and found family.
Over time her fictional map has sprawled: mountain mermaids cursed in Sapphire Lake, cat-shifter bikers in shared worlds, ghost teams of mercenaries, and interconnected clubs in places like Roanoke, Zephyr Hills, and West Texas. Across all of it, a few threads stay the same. Her characters are “perfectly imperfect,” often carrying trauma, addiction, or complicated faith. Her stories are about building community as much as falling in love, and she’s not afraid to let older couples, single parents, and survivors take center stage.
Away from the page, Tallman describes herself as a transplanted Yankee who has called both Georgia and Texas home. She’s open about the role faith plays in her life but keeps explicit preaching out of her fiction, preferring to let grace show up in the way characters choose each other and heal. These days she shares her home with a lively pack of rescue cats (and at least one small dog), balances writing with family life as a mom and grandmother, and keeps a long list of ideas waiting their turn. There’s always another club, another small town, or another stubborn couple knocking on the inside of her skull, asking to be written next.
