Series background & context

The Country Roads series is a run of connected contemporary romances set in Mirabelle, Florida, a small Southern town where everyone knows someone, and plenty of people think they know everyone else's business. It is a place of cafés, local jobs, family ties, longtime friendships, and a gossip columnist who keeps the town's private business feeling very public.

The series opens with Undone, when Paige Morrison arrives in Mirabelle after losing her job, apartment, and boyfriend in Philadelphia. She is an artsy outsider staying with her retired parents, and the town's customs can feel baffling at first. Mechanic Brendan King becomes her guide to the people and rhythms of Mirabelle, but their growing relationship has to survive the pressures that come with starting over in a place where rumours travel quickly.

Mirabelle is practically another character in these books.

Each main novel shifts the focus to a different couple, while familiar faces continue to move through the background. Undeniable follows Grace King, who works at her grandmother's café and has long wanted sheriff Jaxson Anderson to see her differently. In Unstoppable, teacher Melanie O'Bryan finds herself drawn to Bennett Hart, a former Air Force sergeant trying to settle into a quieter life after coming home. Their stories keep the series rooted in community, even as each couple brings a different problem to the table.

Later installments widen that circle. Attorney Hannah Sterling returns to town in Unforgettable after inheriting an inn and facing the man she once loved. Unsung steps out to Nashville for a while with Harper Laurence and country musician Liam James, then Uncontrollable returns to Mirabelle with Beth Boone, newly responsible for her sister's three children, and the neighbour who constantly tests her patience. Untold follows Brie Davis as she comes to town to learn about the birth mother she never knew.

The stories are warm, sexy, and emotionally direct. They often pair people carrying old disappointments with someone who makes it harder to stay guarded. Family loss, secrets, former relationships, parenting duties, and fear of getting hurt all create tension, but the books leave room for teasing dialogue, supportive friends, and the occasional small-town complication.

Read in order if you want the fullest sense of Mirabelle and its web of relationships. Each romance has its own central couple, so individual books can still offer a satisfying love story, but beginning with Undone makes the returning characters and local history land best.
