Series background & context

Corsican Crime Lord is a four-book dark mafia romance that starts with obsession early and never really lets go. Sabella's story with Angelo Russo is not built on a meet-cute or even a bad first date. It begins when she is young and he keeps returning on her birthdays, claiming pieces of her life as if he already owns the future.

That setup gives the series a strong fairy-tale-gone-wrong energy. Angelo is described in almost mythic terms at first, but the books are clear that myth is not safety. He is powerful, tied to crime, and shaped by a family world where deals, blood, and revenge matter. Sabella grows up in the shadow of that threat, which means the romance begins from dread long before it has any chance of becoming desire.

This is a long, brutal relationship by design.

Because the series runs across four books, it has room to stretch beyond the initial arranged-marriage tension. Love Like Poison lays down the obsession and the family pressure. Hate Like Honey turns grief, bloodshed, and broken promises into something meaner and more intimate. The later books keep pushing on the same question, whether a bond built through fear and force can become anything more than mutual ruin.

Corsica matters to the atmosphere even when the story travels elsewhere. The name alone gives the books a sharp, old-world crime feel, and the series uses that well. Family legacy, loyalty, and retaliation are always close by. At the same time, the focus stays tight on Sabella and Angelo, which keeps the emotional side of the saga stronger than the wider mafia mechanics.

If you like dark romance series that commit fully to one couple and let the relationship mutate over several books, Corsican Crime Lord is built for that. It is obsessive, painful, dramatic, and not interested in pretending that love and damage are easy to pull apart.
