Series background & context
Conrad Yeats is the restless center of Thomas Greanias's Atlantis cycle, an archaeologist who treats the world like a puzzle that refuses to stay solved. The Conrad Yeats Adventure books follow him from frozen dig sites to power corridors in Washington, DC, pairing him again and again with Serena Serghetti, the Vatican linguist nicknamed 'Mother Earth'. Together they move through a shared storyworld where lost civilizations, secret orders and cutting edge physics overlap.
A good entry point is Raising Atlantis, which begins with a glacial earthquake in Antarctica that swallows a U.S. research station and exposes a vast structure buried beneath the ice. Conrad is pulled off a dig in Peru by Special Forces, while Serena is summoned to Rome after the pope shares a terrifying apocalyptic vision. As storms coil around the South Pole and satellites vanish, their search for the legendary city turns into a question about how far someone would go to control the origin story of humanity.
In The Atlantis Prophecy, the action shifts to Washington, DC. Conrad buries his father at Arlington and discovers that the general's tombstone is really a coded warning. The alignments of the National Mall, long tied to Freemason lore, point to a specific date when the city's monuments will lock with the stars. Conrad and Serena dig into tunnels, catacombs and forgotten foundations beneath the capital while a shadowy organization uses that sky clock to time its attempt to replace the republic with a modern empire.
The Atlantis Revelation picks up the thread in the ruins of the Third Reich. A sunken Nazi submarine yields an artifact tied both to Atlantis and to an international brotherhood determined to trigger a new world war. Conrad and Serena find themselves racing across the Mediterranean and through Europe's old battlefields, chasing clues buried since World War II. The stakes tilt from personal history to global catastrophe as they uncover how far powerful people will go to rewrite the past in order to control the future.
The wider series also fills in the gaps around those big set pieces. The Virgin City jumps back to Conrad as a seventeen year old who sneaks across war torn Africa hunting the fabled virgin city of the Queen of Sheba, and it plants the first sparks of his complicated connection with Serena. The Alignment Ingress brings both characters into a present day hunt for King Solomon's gold and a strange energy pulsing through hidden portals, while Raising Atlantis: The Lost Chapters collects redacted material and side stories that deepen the mythology.
Across the Conrad Yeats Adventure books you can expect big canvas storytelling, quick chapters and plenty of puzzles rooted in real archaeology, astronomy and religious tradition. The tone is closer to a globe trotting action film than to quiet science fiction, but the questions it plays with are serious ones about belief, power and responsibility. If you like end of the world stakes anchored by a handful of stubborn, very human characters, this is the corner of the Greanias universe to live in for a while.
