Series background & context

Charlie Squad is a team-based romantic-suspense series about people who work best when the pressure is highest. The squad structure means every member brings a different skill set, but it also means personal risks quickly become team problems.

Nobody works alone for long.

Cindy Dees uses that setup to combine operational tension with relationships that develop in the middle of difficult assignments. The books focus on characters whose work may involve protection, investigation, military training, or covert action, and whose private lives are complicated by the need to keep others safe.

The series is a good fit for readers who enjoy a found-family feeling alongside suspense. Team members can provide backup, advice, or occasional interference, while each novel still gives its central couple room for a complete story. The external plot supplies urgency, and the romance asks whether two guarded people can be honest enough to build something lasting.

Expect fast pacing, action, and characters who are capable but not invulnerable. The squad's shared history provides continuity, while the individual books introduce new threats and new romantic pairings.

Start with the first Charlie Squad title for the clearest introduction to the team. The romances are designed to stand alone, but reading in order makes the returning bonds more meaningful.
