Chaos & Flame is a YA fantasy duology built on war, prophecy, and the worst possible crush. The world is split between powerful houses, each carrying old grudges and dangerous magic, and the story starts by throwing together two people with every reason to hate each other.

Darling Seabreak has almost no memory of the life she lost, only the fact that House Dragon destroyed her family. Raised in the shadows by House Kraken and powered by a fierce Chaos Boon, she grows up angry, capable, and ready to hit back. Talon Goldhoard comes from the other side of the war. He is House Dragon's dutiful war prince, loyal to family even as he starts to see how unstable that loyalty has become.

That setup gives the series its main tension. Darling and Talon are enemies first, then reluctant allies, then something much harder to name. Around them, the houses maneuver for advantage, prophecies keep tightening, and old blood magic begins surfacing in ways that make the war feel even older than it looked at the start.

The first book, Chaos & Flame, leans into pursuit, suspicion, and political turns. It likes ambushes, secrets, and the moment when two characters realize the story they were told about the world may not be the real one. The second book, Blood & Fury, opens after everything has become larger and more dangerous. Darling is forced to reckon with a transformed identity and Talon has to help end a war his own family helped fuel.

These books move fast, but they do not forget the feelings underneath the action. Family loyalty matters. So does betrayal. So does the question of whether peace can be built by people who were raised inside violence.

If you want a fantasy with house politics, ancient power, and romance under real pressure, this is very much that kind of series.
