Because the stories are shorter and tighter than Kelly's big cozy series, they lean hard into momentum. A busted taillight, a stolen car, or a suspicious stop can turn into a full case in just a few pages. That gives the books a punchy feel. They read quickly, but they still have room for flirting, trouble, and a little emotional fallout.
