Buffy: The Next Generation Books in Order

Buffy: The Next Generation starts in a world Buffy Summers already changed. Sunnydale is back in a new form, the Slayer line has been rewritten, and the old Scoobies are older but not exactly retired. Blake does not center the story on them, though. The lead is Frankie Rosenberg, Willow's teenage daughter, an environmentally minded student in New Sunnydale who would much prefer a normal life to any kind of chosen destiny.

That is not the life she gets.

In In Every Generation, news arrives that an attack on a Slayer gathering may have killed Buffy, Faith, Vi, and many of the active slayers. Frankie is suddenly pushed toward a role nobody expected, because she seems to be the first Slayer-Witch. She has Willow's magic in progress and Slayer power arriving at the same time. That makes her special, but it also makes her unstable, untrained, and very visible to whatever evil is coming next.

The supporting cast gives the series its Buffy feel. Hailey brings the warning that kicks the plot into motion and becomes one of Frankie's key allies. Jake adds werewolf complications and a more grounded emotional line. Sigmund, a sage demon, brings lore, awkward charm, and the kind of oddball energy Buffy stories need. Willow and Spike stay close enough to matter, so the books keep one foot in familiar territory while building a new Scooby gang with its own chemistry.

New Sunnydale is more than a backdrop. The place still sits on old supernatural fault lines, and the series loves the way normal teenage problems can slam straight into monster trouble. School, friendship, crushes, grief, and family arguments all happen right beside portal magic and Hellmouth fallout. Blake keeps that balance moving quickly, which makes the books feel brisk and fun even when the stakes get ugly.

Across One Girl in All the World and Against the Darkness, the danger widens from one attack to a much larger crisis involving surviving slayers, demon magic, alternate dimensions, and a force known as the Darkness. Frankie is not just learning how to fight. She is learning how to lead when the team is fraying, older heroes are distracted by loss, and nobody agrees on the best way forward.

It gets messy, fast.

The tone is affectionate toward the Buffyverse but not trapped by nostalgia. These books have banter, action, found family, and plenty of monsters, but they also care about what power does to a kid who never asked for it. If you know Buffy, there are a lot of satisfying echoes. If you do not, Frankie and her crew are strong enough to carry you in.
