Brady Family books in chronological order
Series background & context
The Brady Family series follows six members of a Pittsburgh engineering family who are much better at solving practical problems than handling their own feelings. They are brilliant, blunt, tightly connected, and often far too involved in one another's lives. Each book gives a different Brady a romance, while family dinners, work problems, and plenty of unsolicited advice keep pulling everyone back together.
Engineering is part of the fabric of the series. The Bradys deal with soil reports, construction concerns, business decisions, and the odd professional disaster. But the books are not technical romances. The work creates pressure and proximity, then the characters have to figure out how to talk honestly when their tidy plans stop working.
It begins with Foundation, where grouchy engineer Zack Brady is sent to investigate a sinkhole at Nicole Kennedy's house. Nicole has no patience for Zack's attitude, and he has no clue what to do with a woman who challenges every careful calculation he makes. Their reluctant running partnership and the collapsing ground beneath Nicole's property set the tone for a series that likes its chemistry both literal and inconvenient.
The next books move through opposites-attract, second-chance, accidental-roommate, surprise-pregnancy, and later-in-life romance. Suspension pairs exacting engineer Liam with candid writer Maddie. Inspection reunites Kellen Brady with his high school girlfriend, Elizabeth, after both have carried a lot of life and family history. Vibration sends the family's supposedly irresponsible fun brother into a shared apartment with a woman whose orderly habits get under his skin.
The series makes room for different ages and kinds of love. There are characters starting over after loss, divorce, family estrangement, and long-held fears. There are adult children, parents, neighbors, and friends who all bring their own opinions to the table. The Bradys can be overwhelming, but their loyalty is real.
These are interconnected standalones, so each couple gets a complete central story. Reading in order gives the best view of the family dynamics and the running jokes, especially as earlier couples return to meddle, celebrate, and occasionally make a situation worse. Start with Foundation for the full introduction to the family, then continue through the six books for a warm, high-heat Pittsburgh romance series about people learning that love is not a problem to solve alone.
