Bradford Bastard starts with a setup Sheridan Anne clearly enjoys, a heroine whose life is already in pieces getting shoved into even worse company. After catching her boyfriend cheating, she winds up moving in with her mother's wealthy new boyfriend, which means sharing space with Tanner Morgan, the football captain at Bradford Private and a guy who comes wrapped in ego, anger, and trouble.

It does not stay at enemies and chemistry for long.

The series is built around Tanner and Addison, and around the way their personal tension keeps colliding with something much darker outside of them. Bradford Private brings the usual private-school hierarchy, money, status, and social cruelty, but Anne layers in a lot more than school drama. Assault, betrayal, revenge, and family danger become part of the main story very quickly, which gives the books a heavier edge than a standard rich-boy romance.

Tanner is the center of the storm in many ways. He is possessive, abrasive, and constantly pushed between protecting the people he loves and lashing out at the world around him. Addison has her own share of secrets, fear, and pride, and the series gets most of its bite from watching those two try to hold onto each other while everything around them keeps turning more volatile.

That is where the books get their momentum.

If you like a trilogy that stays with one central couple and keeps raising the stakes, Bradford Bastard is very easy to fall into. It has the sharp banter and sexual tension you would expect from Anne, but it also has a real undercurrent of menace. The football field, the family house, and the school corridors all feel like places where something can blow up at any minute. That uneasy feeling is part of the fun.
