Series background & context

Bluewater Billionaires is a shared-world romantic comedy series built around four billionaire best friends living in a bright, slightly over-the-top corner of Miami Beach. Each book is written by a different author, so every installment has its own couple and flavor, but the friendships tie the whole thing together. The setup is glossy on purpose: powerful women, big careers, expensive homes, public attention, and the occasional mess that money absolutely cannot fix.

Kathryn Nolan's part of that world is Wild Open Hearts, and it fits the series especially well because it balances all the billionaire sparkle with something earthier and warmer. Her heroine, Luna da Rosa, is rich, famous, and everywhere online, known as the smiling face of a vegan beauty empire. When a scandal hits her company, Luna's carefully built image starts to crack, and suddenly good publicity is not enough. She needs to figure out who she is when the brand stops doing the work for her.

That is where Beck Mason comes in. Beck runs Lucky Dog, a struggling rescue for abused and neglected dogs. He is gruff, capable, and has no interest in playing nice for the cameras. He also needs help, because rescue work runs on money as much as heart. Their arrangement begins as mutually useful, Luna gets a chance to repair her public image, Beck gets badly needed support for the rescue, but the real story is about what happens when two people look past the version of each other that the world finds easiest to label.

The setting does a lot of work here. Miami Beach gives the broader series its sun, style, and wealthy-girl-group energy, while Nolan's book adds kennels, motorcycles, nonprofit stress, and plenty of mud on the floor. That contrast is the point. Wild Open Hearts is interested in image versus reality, public kindness versus private vulnerability, and the way love can show up in practical, unglamorous acts, cleaning cages, showing up for a friend, trusting somebody with a hard truth.

It is still a rom-com world, though, so expect sharp flirtation, big attraction, funny moments, and a cast that understands how to meddle in the name of love. One of the pleasures of Bluewater Billionaires is that the women stay present in one another's lives. Their friendship gives the books a sense of continuity, and it keeps the billionaire premise from floating off into fantasy with no human center.

If you want a billionaire romance that feels sunny and sexy but still has rescue dogs, emotional repair, and a hero who would rather do the work than pose for the photo, this is the Kathryn Nolan corner of Bluewater Billionaires.
