Series background & context

Blood & Fangs starts with Joanna, usually called Jo, at the worst possible moment. She is supposed to shift into her wolf and step into adult pack life. Instead, the shift never comes. That failure turns her into an outcast before the story has really begun, and it leaves her with questions nobody around her can answer cleanly.

Then a vampire named Aaron shows up and says he wants to claim her. From there, the series stops being a straightforward shifter romance and starts leaning into something broader. Wolves, vampires, old grudges, hidden family history, and the suspicion that Jo has been lied to for years all get folded into the story.

Across Soul Bitten, Blood Letter, and Queen of Darkness, the stakes climb from personal confusion to court-level danger. Jo's unusual heritage matters. Aaron's past matters. The vampire queen quickly becomes a real threat, not just background scenery. If you like a same-couple paranormal romance with blood politics, supernatural mystery, and a heroine learning just how dangerous she can be, this series delivers exactly that.
