Series background & context

The Big Bands, Big Hearts series follows the messy, loud, high-pressure lives around a group of rock musicians. Each book centers on a different couple, but the performers, friends, rivals, and people working behind the scenes keep crossing paths. It is a romance series built around gigs, touring, recording, publicity, and the things that can go wrong when private feelings become part of a public life.

The opening book, Dreams, brings together Jett, a guitarist in a successful band, and Roxy, the vocalist of another group. Their first meeting is anything but gentle, and that sets the tone for a series where attraction often arrives alongside a fight, a misunderstanding, or an old wound.

The music matters here, but it is never just background noise.

In Jump, psychologist Ray becomes involved with Sean, better known as Slick, a musician whose stage persona makes it easy for people to underestimate him. Secrets reaches back to a teenage connection between bassist Blaze and Lizzee, then asks what happens when a first love returns with years of unanswered questions between them. These books make room for big emotions, but they also show how difficult it can be to trust someone after loss, distance, or a painful past.

Other installments keep the focus on people navigating life close to the stage. Unchained follows Storm and Dez as his private struggle makes a new relationship harder to accept. In Runaround, drummer Stix meets Liv, a fan who notices that something dangerous is happening around the band. Eruption pairs guitarist Spex with Claudia, a police officer who initially sees musicians as part of the problem rather than people worth knowing.

Expect adult contemporary romance with suspense, conflict, and strong language. The series deals with substance use, mental health pressure, stalking, violence, and the darker side of celebrity, so the books can be more intense than a light backstage love story. They are also about friendship within a band, loyalty under strain, and the work of choosing a healthier path.

The books are best read in order. Relationships and ongoing threats develop across the series, and earlier characters continue to appear as the band world gets wider and more complicated. Start with Dreams to meet the central circle, then follow the published order through Eruption for the fullest picture of its intertwined romances.
