Author bio

Ashley Munoz writes romance with a little grit on its boots and a lot of feeling underneath. She has said she grew up in a few different places, including the South, and today she lives in Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest, with her husband and four children. That sense of movement, of trying to figure out where home really is, shows up all over her books.

She came to writing as a reader first. In interviews, she has talked about loving stories that made her laugh and feel like she could step right into them. After reading romance she loved, especially books by Mariana Zapata, she started wondering if she could write one herself. That question turned into an actual writing life.

She also talks about writing in very physical terms, getting something out of her head and heart and onto the page. When writer's block hits, she has said music usually helps. So does taking a drive. For her, a song can unlock a scene fast enough that she has to pull over and write it down before it disappears.

That is pretty on brand.

Her debut era, with books like Glimmer and Fade, already showed the pieces readers still come to her for now: strong chemistry, emotional fallout, family pressure, and characters trying to build safety after chaos. Those early stories mixed romance with suspense, motorcycle club ties, and the feeling that love is never just about attraction. It is also about trust, timing, and whether two people can make a life feel steady.

As her catalog grew, so did the worlds around it. The Rake Forge University books brought in college settings, baseball royalty, and organized crime, while still staying focused on the push and pull between the central couple. Later series like Stone Riders and the books set in Rose Ridge leaned even harder into found family, club loyalties, and second chances. If you move from Wild Card to Where We Started to The Lost Kings, you can see her stretching from small-town romance into darker, more connected stories without losing the emotional core.

Readers who like Ashley Munoz usually like a few things very specifically. They like protective heroes, women who have more backbone than people first assume, and a story that is willing to let love get messy before it gets right. Single parents, old wounds, dangerous loyalty, and the need to belong all show up again and again in her work. Even when the setup changes, the heartbeat stays familiar.

One of the clearest examples is Glimmer. She has shared that the idea came to her on a family vacation after she saw a reckless motorcyclist weaving through traffic while her husband was driving. The image sparked a scene in her head, and she started writing it down right away. It is a good snapshot of how her books often feel, ordinary life suddenly tilting into story.

These days, she writes across small-town romance, romantic suspense, and darker interconnected series. Books like Resisting the Grump, Only Once, Where We Belong, and The Broken Queen all hit different corners of that range. The details shift, but the promise is steady: high emotion, sharp longing, people who cuss and kiss, and a happy ending that feels earned instead of easy.

Coffee helps, too.
