Ash is a London kid visiting India with his younger sister Lucky, and at first he seems more likely to complain about the heat than battle demons. Then he stumbles into a struggle tied to the Ramayana, the demon king Ravana, and a powerful figure named Lord Savage.

These books take Hindu mythology and treat it like living adventure material, not museum display. Gods, rakshasas, ancient weapons, and old prophecies all crash into the present day. Ash may know some of the stories, but knowing a legend is not the same as surviving it. Much of the fun comes from watching a fairly ordinary, slightly geeky kid learn that he has a very unusual part to play.

Ash becomes tied to Kali and to a struggle that keeps widening, while Lord Savage keeps reaching for more. Each book raises the stakes, but the trilogy stays rooted in Ash's choices and in the people he cares about most.

Lucky is important too. She is not there just to be rescued, and the sibling energy gives the series some of its spark. So does Parvati, a rakshasi girl whose loyalties are never simple. Friend and foe do not stay neatly separated, which helps the books feel more alive than a basic good-versus-evil quest.

The tone is fast and cinematic, with big monster fights, chase scenes, and mythic set pieces, but there is real feeling underneath the action. Ash grows, gets knocked back, and keeps going. If you like fantasy that moves quickly and still leaves room for family, grief, humor, and huge legends, this trilogy is an easy one to fall into.
