Author bio

Anne Mercier writes romance that likes big feelings, loud music, and messy families who become each other's safe place.

She was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and raised in Wisconsin, which is still home for her today. Long before she published anything, she was a reader first. She has shared that books and music both feed her imagination, and that mix still shows up all over her work.

Her path into writing feels a lot like the books she now publishes, direct, emotional, and rooted in everyday life.

Mercier's stories are usually built around people who love hard, screw up loudly, and keep reaching back for each other anyway. That is true whether she is writing about rock stars, college students, or younger characters trying to sort out grief, secrets, and first love. Even when the setup is big, the emotional center stays personal.

That is a big part of her appeal.

Her breakout world is the long-running Rockstar series, which begins with Falling Down and grows into a sprawling cast of musicians, partners, siblings, and chosen family. Readers who start there usually stay for the banter, the steam, and the sense that every side character has a full life waiting to be explored. Books like Blush, Amplify, and Refrain show how comfortable she is moving from one couple to another while keeping the wider group connected.

She does not stay in one lane for long. The Way Back to Me leans harder into grief, recovery, and college-age heartbreak. Whispered Truths shifts younger, with high school pain and family trouble driving the romance. Then there are shorter, hotter reads like Unzipped, where she pares things down and lets chemistry do a lot of the work. Across all of them, you can see the same interests coming back: found family, loyalty, healing after trauma, and characters learning how to trust love when life has already hit them hard.

Music is especially important in her fiction. In the Rockstar books, tour buses, rehearsals, backstage chaos, and stage life are not just decoration. They shape the relationships. Fame creates pressure. Distance creates problems. Public attention makes private feelings harder to protect. Mercier uses all of that to keep the romance moving while still making room for humor and very human mess.

Her books also tend to carry a protective streak. The love interests are often patient, intense, or quietly all-in, and the heroines are rarely delicate pushovers. Even when a character is hurting, there is usually some fight left in them. That mix of vulnerability and stubbornness gives her stories their momentum.

Off the page, Mercier still lives in Wisconsin. She has said that when she is not writing she enjoys reading, listening to music, keeping up with Avenged Sevenfold and Milo Ventimiglia, chatting with readers and friends, and settling in with Netflix.

That sounds about right.

Her novels feel like they come from someone who loves stories, loves music, and knows that a little chaos can be half the fun.
