Author bio
Anne Graham Lotz was born in Asheville, North Carolina, on May 21, 1948, and grew up nearby in Montreat. She is the second of Billy and Ruth Bell Graham's five children, and she was raised in a home where prayer, Scripture, travel, and family life were all woven together.
After high school, she married Daniel Lotz and moved to Raleigh, where he began his dental practice. They had three children in quick succession, and Anne has often pointed back to those busy young-mother years as the season when the Bible became deeply personal to her, not just familiar.
That shift shaped the rest of her life.
In the mid 1970s, she became involved with Bible Study Fellowship and soon began teaching a weekly class in Raleigh. She taught there from 1976 to 1988. Then she founded AnGeL Ministries, a nonprofit based in Raleigh, so she could accept more speaking invitations and build a wider teaching ministry centered on helping ordinary people understand God's Word.
Her books usually start with Scripture and stay close to it. The Vision of His Glory walks readers through Revelation with the focus on Jesus and hope. God's Story turns to Genesis, especially the opening chapters. The Magnificent Obsession follows Abraham's life and asks what it really means to know God as a friend. Readers who return to her work often do so because she keeps big biblical themes tied to daily choices, not abstract ideas.
Prayer is another thread running through her writing. The Daniel Prayer, Storming the Gates of Heaven, and The Daniel Key all grow out of Daniel's life and look at what steady, serious prayer can do in a fearful age. In Jesus in Me, written during a season marked by cancer treatment, she writes about the Holy Spirit not as a vague force but as a constant companion who comforts, guides, and strengthens.
She also writes for the quiet rhythms of daily devotion.
Books such as Fixing My Eyes on Jesus, The Joy of My Heart, and The Light of His Presence are built for short, regular reading and reflection. Even when she is writing about suffering, heaven, or the end of history, her habit is the same: open the Bible, ask what it says, and respond personally.
Several of her books, including The Vision of His Glory, God's Story, Just Give Me Jesus, and My Heart's Cry, received Gold Medallion recognition in Christian publishing. But the heart of her work has stayed remarkably steady. She teaches biblical books, returns often to prayer and revival, and writes about people like Abraham, Daniel, Hagar, John, and Rebekah as if their stories still press on modern life.
Life has not been tidy for her. Her husband, Danny, died in 2015, and grief gave later books on heaven and God's presence an even more personal tone. She continues to lead AnGeL Ministries from Raleigh, and in recent years she has also written and taught alongside her daughter Rachel-Ruth Wright.
Across decades of speaking and writing, Anne Graham Lotz has done one main thing. She has tried to help readers slow down, listen to Scripture for themselves, and take God personally.
