Angelhart Investigations is Brennan's Arizona private-eye series, and family is the whole point. Margo Angelhart comes from a family business full of investigators, but when the series opens she is estranged from them and working mostly on her own. That would already be enough tension. Then you add the bigger wound: her father, Dr. Cooper Angelhart, confessed to killing a colleague, and Margo has never believed he was guilty.

That unresolved conviction hangs over everything. The series starts with Into the Fire, a prequel that shows Margo early in her PI life, taking a case that proves she is better at this work than she wants to admit. You’ll Never Find Me forces her back into orbit with the rest of the Angelharts when one of her smaller cases overlaps with her siblings' corporate investigation. From there the family mystery and the weekly case begin feeding each other.

In Out of the Shadows, the Angelharts protect a client family after a break-in and road attack spiral into something more dangerous. Don’t Say a Word looks smaller at first, with Margo investigating whether a teenager really died of an overdose, but that case also opens into a wider criminal scheme. By I’ll Be Watching You, the family finally gets what looks like a real lead in Cooper's case, and the stakes rise sharply.

What makes the series work is the mix of business and baggage. The Angelharts are competent investigators, but they are also relatives with secrets, resentments, and bad communication habits. Working a case together means reopening emotional ground just as often as it means interviewing witnesses.

Margo is a strong center for all of this. She is independent, suspicious, and good at keeping pieces of herself hidden, which is useful in PI work and terrible for family harmony. Her brother Jack brings a more openly protective energy, while Ava, Cooper, and the rest of the family make the home front every bit as complicated as the cases.

The tone is classic Brennan, quick, dangerous, and personal, but the private-investigator structure gives it a slightly different rhythm from the FBI series.
