The book keeps the family-business story moving while digging deeper into second chances and the cost of old decisions.

What ties the series together is the mix of warmth and strain. The island backdrop gives Alexander room for sunsets, water, and that slightly removed feeling you get in a vacation spot, but she uses it to tell stories about people trying to rebuild their lives. Characters arrive hurt, embarrassed, broke, overworked, or boxed in by the past. The romances matter, but so does the question of whether these people can make a real home for themselves again.

If you like contemporary romance with linked couples, a family-run business at the center, and just enough emotional weight to balance the heat, this series fits nicely. It is softer and more community-minded than Checkmate, Inc., but it still has banter, chemistry, and characters who have to tell the truth before they can move forward.
