Alex Morgan Thriller Books in Order

The Alex Morgan Thriller books take a character who spent years near the edge of the Dan Morgan novels and move her to center stage. Alex is the daughter of legendary operative Dan Morgan, but this series is built to show that she is more than an extension of her father's reputation. She is a Zeta agent in her own right, and her books push her into the kind of missions where there is no safe fallback.

A good early on-ramp is Hard Target, a short, sharp story that drops Alex into the aftermath of a bomb attack in Chicago and forces her onto the run. Angle of Attack opens the full series and makes the pattern clear. Alex is sent where the mission is messy, fast-moving, and much larger than it first appears, and she has to keep going even when the people chasing her include both terrorists and official authorities.

The settings are broad and busy. One book moves through Europe's Formula One circuit, Iran, Monaco, Malaysia, and Montreal in pursuit of missing weapons-grade plutonium. Another strands Alex and Alicia Schmitt on a seized cruise ship in the Coral Sea while a massive storm closes in. Blast Wave carries her from a sniper attack in Trafalgar Square to Tokyo, where technology, politics, and covert violence all hit the same target.

These books are built for motion.

Alex is often outnumbered, under suspicion, or cut off from normal support, and that gives the series a slightly sharper chase energy than the Dan Morgan books. She still works inside the same world of covert teams and state-level threats, but her stories lean more heavily on survival, improvisation, and the problem of staying one step ahead when everybody wants answers now. The result is a fast, restless series with very little downtime.

Ares becomes a major enemy as the books go on, and that helps tie the series together. Instead of facing a completely separate threat each time, Alex keeps running into a network that wants to turn local crises into global ones. That recurring pressure gives Storm Front, Blast Wave, and Enemy Action a connected feel, even when the action jumps from Australian waters to London, Tokyo, Antarctica, the Caribbean, and the Indian Ocean.

Dan is never far from this world, and that family link is part of the point. Alex works under the shadow of his history, but the series keeps putting her in positions where only her choices will do. She leads teams, goes undercover, makes calls under extreme pressure, and learns quickly that being right is not the same as being believed.

If you want international thrillers with lots of movement and a capable lead who is still carving out her own place, this series fits nicely. Start with Hard Target if you want the earliest bridge into Alex's story, or go straight to Angle of Attack if you want the full launch. Either way, expect Zeta operations, ticking-clock plots, and very little breathing room.
