Author bio

Aileen Erin grew up in central Houston, Texas, and attended an international school. She has described herself as half Irish and half Mexican, and that sense of living between worlds shows up all through her fiction. Her books are full of characters who do not quite fit, who have one foot in ordinary life and the other in something strange, dangerous, or magical.

She started writing young, like a lot of lifelong readers do, but fiction became serious again when she was finishing college. Erin studied Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas at Austin, and after graduation she kept writing while working. At a certain point, the side project stopped feeling like a side project, and books became the thing she wanted to build her life around.

That was the turning point.

To sharpen the craft, she went on to earn an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University. She has said she had never taken a creative writing class before that program, so the experience gave her structure, feedback, and a serious writing community. It also seems to have reinforced something readers still notice in her work: she likes clean momentum, strong emotional stakes, and worlds with enough rules to feel real.

A lot of readers first meet Erin through Becoming Alpha, the opening novel in her Alpha Girl universe. It begins with Tessa McCaide, visions, a move to Texas, and one very bad kiss that leads straight to a secret werewolf school. Books like Avoiding Alpha and Bruja keep widening that world with witches, curses, family loyalties, and the kind of supernatural politics that never stay tidy for long.

She clearly enjoys throwing capable girls into chaos and seeing what they do next.

That same energy runs through her other series. Cipher moves into a near-future world shaped by genetic engineering and rebellion. Off Planet heads into romantic science fiction, with a hunted heroine, alien politics, and a much bigger stage. Invocation shifts back toward the paranormal and follows Samantha Lopez as she deals with demons, exorcism, and a father who happens to be one of Hell's most dangerous figures.

Across all of these books, some patterns keep returning. Erin likes found family. She likes heroines with unusual gifts and a lot of pressure on their shoulders. She likes romance, but usually when it has something real pushing against it, war, secrecy, trauma, duty, or the simple fact that two people may want the same future for very different reasons.

Settings matter in her work too. Texas shows up often, but so do hidden academies, bleak future cities, distant planets, and the uneasy space where the mortal world touches something older and darker. Even when the scale gets big, the emotional center tends to stay personal. A girl wants a normal life. A family is hiding something. A best friend needs saving. Someone has to choose whether love is worth the risk.

Erin now lives in Texas with her family and still leans into the nerdy side of herself she talks about so openly. She loves speculative fiction, worldbuilding, and stories with a supernatural edge. That mix of heart, danger, and momentum is what ties her books together, whether she is writing about werewolves, space royals, or a young woman staring down Hell.
