Series background & context

The Vendetta trilogy lives in the aftermath of the Purge of Babylon story, when humanity has survived the worst of the ghoul uprising but has not come through it whole. The monsters are fewer now. That does not make the world gentle. It just changes the way people hunt and get hunted.

The series follows Wash, a slayer with one very specific target in mind, and Ana, a woman who is tougher and more complicated than she first appears. Wash is not out there looking for general justice. He wants one blue-eyed ghoul, the creature that took everything from him. That private mission gives the whole trilogy its shape.

What makes these books interesting is the mood of the setting. This is not the first year of collapse. Communities exist. People farm, trade, and try to build routines. But the Purge has left scars in every direction. Slayers roam the roads. Night is never completely safe. Human cruelty has not eased just because the larger war shifted. In some ways, it is worse now, because everyone left standing has learned how far they are willing to go.

Northern Texas matters here. The land feels wide, hard, and unforgiving, which suits Wash and Ana's story. Their journey is part revenge thriller, part survival story, and part reluctant partnership. They need each other, but trust is slow, and the world keeps offering them fresh reasons not to relax.

If the main Babylon saga is about surviving history, Vendetta is about surviving what history leaves inside a person. It is smaller in scale, more personal, and driven by the question of whether revenge can keep someone alive or only keep them moving.
