Series background & context

The Twin Sisters mysteries follow Sunny Taylor and Eve Vaughn, divorced twin sisters who have started over in Sugar Ledge, a small Louisiana town. They run a home repair and remodeling company, which gives them a practical reason to enter other people's houses, hear local stories, and get pulled into problems they did not expect.

Sunny is tired of heartache and wary of romance. Eve has not completely given up on it. Their different reactions to love, work, and danger give the books a warm sibling push and pull, but the sisters have to rely on each other when a murder puts their business and reputations at risk.

The first book, A Fatal Romance, begins when one of their clients is found dead in a pond and his widow dies soon afterward. Sunny's conflict with the widow makes the twins easy targets for suspicion. When someone tries to harm Eve, the case becomes personal, and the sisters have to look past Sugar Ledge's watchful residents to find out who wants them silenced.

The work does not get simpler.

In Dead on the Bayou, Sunny and Eve take on a job restoring a fishing camp for Dave Price. Both sisters are interested in the charming client, but any chance to sort out those feelings is interrupted when the group discovers a body. Gossip puts Sunny, Eve, and Dave under pressure, and the twins' mother and her friends at Sugar Ledge Manor join the effort to clear their names.

A Manor of Murder brings the action closer to the family. Sunny and Eve's mother plans to marry a new resident at her retirement community, while the sisters are remodeling a house for his nephew. When the nephew is killed, old disagreements about the marriage make the twins look suspicious, and the danger soon appears to reach toward their mother as well.

These are cozy mysteries with a Louisiana setting, family banter, romantic complications, and hands-on renovation work. Each book has a new murder to solve, while the sisters' business, love lives, and relationship with their mother continue to develop. Start with A Fatal Romance to meet Sunny and Eve before the later cases build on their growing circle in Sugar Ledge.
