Series background & context

11th Hour is Jackie Ashenden's romantic suspense series about former soldiers who now operate in the moral gray. The unit is unofficial, unacknowledged, and not especially worried about permission. Their job is to protect the innocent, hunt the guilty, and do the kind of work respectable systems cannot or will not handle.

That setup gives the series a strong found-family feel. These are men shaped by service, violence, and loyalty, and the romances grow in the middle of active danger rather than around it. Missions, kidnappings, ambushes, hidden identities, and political corruption are all part of the landscape.

Raw Power, Total Control, and Hard Night each bring a different couple into the 11th Hour orbit, but the tone stays consistent. The heroes are competent, watchful, and not emotionally easy. The heroines are often underestimated, which never lasts very long.

If you want Jackie Ashenden with more action, more outside threat, and a stronger suspense spine under the romance, 11th Hour is one of the clearest places to go.
