This corner of Kaylin Peyerk's catalog leans harder into dark royalty, court tension, and love stories shaped by rank. At the center of Wretched Kingdoms is The Malevolent Heir, a fantasy romance built around two princes who should never fit together easily. Kyrell Ashford stands to inherit the Unseelie Court of Nightmares and Death. Nevan Zulfikar is the beloved heir of the Seelie Court of Dreams and Creation. One is feared. One is admired. Both are trapped by what their people expect from them.

That makes the annual summit between the courts more than a ceremonial headache. It becomes a pressure cooker.

The appeal here is not just light versus dark, though Peyerk clearly enjoys that contrast. It is the way both sides need each other even while they resent the connection.
