Wolf Underground takes JJ King's wolf world in a darker direction. Instead of starting with school drama or pack family politics, it opens with captivity, trafficking, and survival. The first book, Wolf Shattered, throws readers straight into the worst day of Mercy's life, then asks what happens years later when the woman who survived decides she is done being afraid of the people who broke her.

Mercy is the heart of the series.

She is not entering this story untouched. She has already been abducted, sold, and treated like property by a brutal supernatural underworld. That history gives the books a sharper edge than King's academy series. Mercy is not trying to fit in. What changes is the environment. Wolf Underground trades academy hierarchy for criminal hierarchy, and the result feels harder, more adult, and more openly violent.
