Wildcats Books in Order

Wildcats is Rachel Vincent's return to the werecat world of Shifters, but with a slightly different angle. Where the original series leans hard into urban fantasy and Pride politics through Faythe Sanders, Wildcats is more romance-forward. The danger, the territory disputes, and the rules of werecat society are still there, but each book shifts focus to a different couple and a different emotional knot inside that world.

It starts with survivors.

The bridge into the series is Hunt, a shorter story centered on Abby Wade, who longtime readers will remember from the earlier werecat books. Abby has survived violence that still shapes how she moves through the world, and Vincent does not forget that. When Abby's college roommate is abducted from a remote campsite, she is forced into action, and that rescue mission sets the stage for the first full novel, Lion's Share, where Abby and Jace Hammond become the central pair.

That is one of the things Wildcats does well. It keeps the continuity of the larger shifter world, but it lets different characters step forward and carry the emotional weight. Abby and Jace bring scars, authority issues, and unresolved attraction. Blind Tiger turns to Robyn Sheffield and all the trouble that comes with changed status, public scrutiny, and a future other people want to control. Wild Card shifts again, this time to Kaci Dillon and Justus Alexander, whose story mixes Vegas chaos, desperation, and young love with the threat of very real consequences.

Across the series, the same larger pressures keep showing up. Female werecats are still rare. Strays still live under suspicion. Pride politics still shape who gets safety, status, and a real choice about the future. That means the romance never floats free from the worldbuilding. Relationships have to survive territory disputes, old trauma, arranged expectations, tribunal decisions, and the constant pressure of a society that thinks it knows what everyone is for.

The tone is different from Shifters, though. These books are a little more intimate, a little more couple-focused, and often more interested in recovery, trust, and emotional vulnerability. The action is still there. So are the claws. But the heartbeat of Wildcats is watching people who have already been hurt decide whether they can risk closeness anyway.

If you liked the werecat world but wanted more room for romance and side characters, this is the series to pick up next. It helps to know Shifters, but Wildcats has its own rhythm, its own leads, and its own way of exploring what life looks like after survival when love, power, and pack loyalty all pull in different directions.
