Series background & context

The Wild & Forbidden Mates books show Liz Fox moving into paranormal romance without losing what already works in her contemporary stories. Starting with Falling for My Best Friend's Shifter Brother and continuing through Falling for My Shifter Professor, Falling for My Shifter Bodyguard, Falling for My Shifter Enemy, Falling for My Shifter Stranger, Falling for My Shifter Guardian, Falling for My Shifter Boss, and Falling for My Shifter Defender, the series mixes human heroines and wolf-shifter heroes with pack politics, hunters, rivalries, and fated-mate tension.

What keeps the books feeling like Liz Fox is the emotional structure. The heroes are still deeply protective. The heroines are still often starting from a place of vulnerability, uncertainty, or a life in transition. The difference is that the danger is now supernatural as well as personal.

The series also gets a little broader as it goes. Best friend's brother, forbidden professor, protective bodyguard, rival pack alpha, guardian, boss, the trope work stays very clear, but the shifter world around those setups keeps expanding.

If you want the same fast, devoted romance energy Fox brings to her contemporary books, but with wolves, mate bonds, and higher external stakes, this is the series to try. It is one of the clearest bridges between her earlier work and her newer paranormal direction.
