Warbonnet Books in Order

After a marshal is killed en route to a Wyoming town, a teacher persuades her cowboy companion to assume his identity. Their improvised deception offers a chance to find the murderer but exposes both newcomers to danger and buried personal secrets.

Monday’s foster brother is accused of murder while Kate joins an expedition to Yellowstone and considers leaving Wyoming. Separate dangers bring them back to Laramie, where they must unravel the evidence before an innocent man is hanged.

A visiting Russian grand duke’s journey through America is shadowed by unexplained deaths. Monday and Kate board his train to investigate, but snowbound conditions and another killing leave them uncertain whether celebrated military companions are allies or suspects.

An officer and a woman are found killed with arrows near a Wyoming fort, threatening renewed conflict with the Sioux. Monday and Kate investigate signs of a frame-up before interested parties can turn the deaths into a pretext for war.

A killing at a dinosaur excavation sends Monday out of town while Kate becomes acting marshal and receives a marriage proposal. Their strained relationship must withstand separate investigations, an endangered refugee family and a kidnapping that demands urgent cooperation.

Kate travels east to visit her sister and withdraw from Warbonnet’s expectations, then stops answering messages. Sent to discover whether she will return, Monday joins her near Niagara Falls in an investigation of a killer with unusually specialised skills.

This concluding collection follows Monday Malone and Kate Shaw through the closing decades of the nineteenth century. Short adventures place them alongside notable Western figures and changing historical events, extending their partnership beyond the cases that first brought them together.
