Series background & context

Truth in Lies, co-written with John Henley, leans into romantic suspense and procedural-style danger. These books are built around investigations, violent crimes, and a recurring sense that the truth is never sitting out in the open where anyone can safely use it. The romance matters, but so do the cases.

By the time the series reaches later books, it is clearly operating as a connected suspense line, with dangerous targets, vulnerable victims, and investigators who have to keep moving even when the emotional cost is high. That makes the books a different experience from Anne's billionaire and family sagas. They are darker, more case-driven, and more interested in how trust holds up when the job itself is risky.

The title fits.

Secrets, half-truths, and hidden motives sit at the center of the stories. The characters are often trying to protect people while also figuring out who can be believed, what evidence really means, and whether their own feelings are clouding judgment. That gives the romances a sharper edge. Falling for someone is harder when danger is not hypothetical.

Readers who enjoy FBI-style or law-enforcement-centered romance with a strong suspense engine should find a lot to like here. The books promise action, tension, and the slow growth of connection under pressure. Anne's emotional instincts are still present, but they are working inside a much more perilous frame.
