Series background & context
Transformed by Love is a series of contemporary Christian romances about people whose lives have been knocked off course. The books are linked by theme and by connections among characters, with stories set in places such as Salford, Deep River, and an island community in the Philippines. Each romance asks what happens after someone has made a mistake, suffered a loss, or stopped believing they deserve another chance.
The first novel, Because We Loved, introduces Callum Westaway, a lieutenant colonel carrying guilt and trauma after years of military service. Fleur Gibbons is the widow of a man who died under Callum's command. Their attraction is complicated from the beginning by grief, responsibility, Fleur's children, and Callum's lack of faith.
Nothing is simple for these characters.
Because We Forgave follows Samuel Jackson, a disgraced television personality who flees overseas after humiliating himself in public. His former wife Eloise and their children have been left to deal with the damage. When their daughter finds a way to locate him, the family must decide whether a return is possible and whether forgiveness can mean more than reopening old pain.
The series also looks at loss within marriage. In Because We Dreamed, Amy and Angus are devastated after a miscarriage and disagree about how to survive their grief. Because We Believed centers on Marta Rodriguez, a protective single mother searching for answers about her family, and Paul Petersen, a school chaplain drawn into the risks created by her determination. Because We Cared turns to Sasha Jackson, an environmental scientist working in a divided town, and Brendan Carmichael, a local teacher and youth worker.
The ongoing thread is transformation, not perfection. These people do not suddenly become free of grief, fear, anger, or bad habits. They have to confront the consequences of their choices and decide whether to receive help. Relationships bring pressure because a new love can expose whatever someone has tried hardest to hide.
Faith is a clear part of the emotional stakes. Some characters are committed believers, while others are distant from church or suspicious of what faith can offer. The stories make room for prayer, repentance, reconciliation, and community support without ignoring the practical problems the characters still face.
The tone is warm but deals with serious subjects, including trauma, broken families, infertility, public failure, and personal safety. Start with Because We Loved to see the series' approach to second chances, then read in order for returning characters and shared emotional threads.
