Series background & context
Together We Stand is the older series name for what is now also published as the Brooks Family Saga, and that family label fits. This is Maggie Cole writing a dark, connected romance series where every book deepens the same central threat and every sibling has skin in the game.
The Brooks family sits at the center of it all.
The books take place on Anna Maria Island, Florida, which gives the series an interesting contrast. The setting can feel bright, coastal, and even relaxed, but the actual story driving the series is anything but easy. Murders, old lies, hidden survivors, gang violence, kidnappings, and long-running revenge plots all push against the family's effort to stay together.
That family motto matters because the books are not just linked by cameo. They are genuinely built to stack on one another. Kiss of Redemption introduces the damage, with Beckett and Mia's story opening a much bigger mess. From there, the threat of the Twisted Hearts gang keeps spreading across the siblings' lives. By the time you reach later books like Web of Betrayal, Masks of Devotion, and Roots of Vengeance, the series is fully operating like one long family saga with multiple romantic arcs inside it.
The romances vary in shape, brothers best friend, second chance, kidnapping, forced proximity, spy secrets, but the emotional core stays steady. These books care about forgiveness, truth, and what it takes to keep trusting people after betrayal has already torn through the family once.
This is a read-in-order series. Really. If you want the full payoff, start at Kiss of Redemption and keep moving. Readers who like romance series where the family itself becomes part of the hook, and where the suspense plot does real work instead of just decorating the love story, will probably do well here.
