Series background & context

To Marry a Madden follows the Madden family, a group of men who are charming, stubborn, and usually less in control than they think they are. The series sits in contemporary Black romance, with comedy, family loyalty, heat, and emotional baggage all working together.

The first book, #Blessed By Malakai, starts with artist Malakai Madden dealing with a very public invasion of privacy. Avery becomes part of the solution, but trust is not easy when his personal life has already been turned into a spectacle.

From there, the family widens.

Crayson brings cigar-lounge swagger and a sharp mouth. Caden brings rancher charm and secrets beneath the southern gentleman surface. Carter brings military scars, broken promises, and a reunion with Serenity that has more weight than either of them can ignore.

The series is playful at times, but it is not empty fluff. Green uses the Maddens to explore privacy, accountability, brotherhood, old wounds, and the kind of love that forces a person to grow up. It is a natural pick for readers who want family-centered romance before stepping into Green's crime-heavy Crowne world.
