TME Walsh Books in Order

Tania Michelle Elizabeth Walsh, who publishes as T. M. E. Walsh, writes dark crime and psychological thrillers. Her recurring character is DCI Claire Winters, a detective working cases in the fictional town of Haverbridge. Walsh’s novels focus on people under pressure, crimes rooted in the past, and the difficult choices left behind once violence reaches a community.

Her route into publishing began with an abrupt change of plans. After becoming a casualty of the late-2008 recession, Walsh started writing full time. Crime and thrillers were already the kind of books she most enjoyed reading, and she set out to write tense, unsettling stories that would keep readers looking for the next clue.

That decision became the start of a new career.

Her first Claire Winters novel, For All Our Sins, was originally published in 2011. When its rights returned to her, Walsh revised the book, then self-published it again in 2013 alongside The Principle of Evil. The two books found readers in digital bestseller charts, and HQ Digital, part of HarperCollins, acquired them in 2015. New editions followed, with For All Our Sins arriving in 2015 and The Principle of Evil in 2016.

Claire’s world gave Walsh room to combine police work with personal stakes. In For All Our Sins, a murdered priest opens a trail of revenge. The Principle of Evil sends Claire after a killer linked to a body in a frozen lake. Trial by Execution puts her on a case that looks like vigilante justice until further deaths reveal a larger danger. The books build around investigation, tension, and the uneasy question of what people believe justice should look like.

Nobody in these stories gets to leave the past neatly packed away.

Walsh also writes standalones. Pretty Little Things follows Charlotte, a mother frightened by the disappearance of girls who resemble her daughter, while DI Madeleine Wood investigates. It shifts the focus from a continuing detective to a family living with fear and suspicion. Her short story Broken Palace returns briefly to Haverbridge and introduces a younger Jennifer as a death connected to hidden secrets risks becoming a cold case. Across these books, seemingly familiar places become uneasy when trust begins to fray.

Before publishing fiction, Walsh taught herself to use Photoshop and created digital artwork. Her work appeared twice in the FXPosé section of ImagineFX on DVD-ROMs in 2007. In 2011, she won the Wannabe a Writer Blurb competition, supported by Writing Magazine. Those two strands, visual design and crime storytelling, also met in the early self-published covers she designed herself.

Her author biography has listed Hertfordshire as home, where she lives with her husband and daughter. It is a fittingly ordinary base for an author whose fiction is interested in the dark things that can hide behind ordinary lives.
