Timegods' World gathers together two of Modesitt's earlier science fiction stories about time, parallel realities, and the people reckless enough to meddle with them.

The Timegod grows out of The Fires of Paratime, and Timediver's Dawn works in the same broad territory. These are not cozy time travel puzzles. They are adventure-driven books where shifts in time and history have real political and personal costs, and where the people with the most knowledge are not always the people who should be trusted with it.

What makes the pair interesting is the mix of scale. The ideas are large, with alternate timelines, paratime tensions, and future stakes, but Modesitt keeps bringing the story back to choice, responsibility, and the damage caused by those who want to control history from above.

If you enjoy older science fiction that treats time manipulation as dangerous business rather than a neat trick, this is the appeal of the series. The omnibus format also makes it easy to read the two connected works together.
